END OF AN ERA
It is with great regret and sadness that I have to announce the closure of Wispcraft.
Wispcraft has been a major part in both the Feed The Beast and ATLauncher communities for well over a year and a half now and it is time to close our doors, we've been through more than most servers, especially with a change-over of ownership partway through! It really has been a pleasure figure heading the entire brand-name of Wispcraft.
It's not an easy decision, but with senior staff consultations it is the best decision to make and that is purely down to the time management we have as a staff team. Real life has taken over a lot in the past few months which has left the server in disrepair and us fixing it has been quite draining on our lives - when we do a job for you guys we want it done right and if it hasn't been done right then we've let you down.
A lot of the decision to close down genuinely comes down to the lack of time – We would love to go full time with Wispcraft but time just doesn't allow us. It’s very hard to run a server and a life at the same time and sometimes the balance goes too hard one way, and that period is now – It’s been a very eventful experience for me and the team, but it’s a decision that will allow us to take a breather and potentially come back in a few months with fresh minds, a fresh start and a bigger and better vision for the server.
It’s not a permanent closure, it’s more of a breather for us to get everything together and re-evaluate where we go next, it eases pressure on us and it allows work to be done at a pace equal to the amount of time we have spare.
Firstly, I would like to personally thank the community for your continual support over the years – You made the server fantastic and you were forever spurring us on to improve everything in your name. Without each and every one of you we would not have put as much effort in. Greg, even you made it worth our while ;)
I had the pleasure of getting on with a lot of you and playing with you all on the server through pretending to kill you and steal your stuff or even just helping you collect a few ores for your new machines – You name it, and we probably did it, and that’s what matters – You helped shape me in a way I never thought possible and it was always a pleasure speaking to you and spending time with you all.
For a year and a half iPortrend has been Server Manager for Wispcraft and under his leadership key decisions were made that defined Wispcraft. Under his leadership, players blossomed into respectable staff members and many people left the server knowing a little bit more about how servers work or how to respect and uphold ideals worthy of credible notice in the real world. Through the highs and the lows, Portrend guided Wispcraft and dealt with every issue professionally and responsibly: often looking at multiple perspectives on issues before making a decision that always seemed to be the correct one.
It wasn't all just him though; For a long period of time there was a second Server Manager who did a superb job in keeping the morale on the server high; Lexren253 enabled the server to grow into a friendly place to be, despite having a lot of issues to deal with on the server, she always remained the go-to-gal for a nice friendly chat.
A third Server Manager came onto the scene with the resignation of Lexren, which, of course, was DrMacGuyver – He played a key part in the development and launch of the Horizons server and played a crucial part in making the Crackpack launch go so smooth. It was always easy to talk to DrMacguyver because he knew what he was doing and he kept cool and calm in situations that needed very precise and delicate attention.
A special thanks to our excellent team of developers over the years, with names like Elfinslayer, Digwood, Phatty and Forrest (The Founder of Wispcraft). Without your help, Wispcraft would never have taken off, you guys made the server suitable and always looked at ways to improve from a technical perspective.
Another special thanks to all past and present staff team members for all of your dedication. I would list all the names, but I feel that I would miss too many and I wouldn't want to do that :P. Also everyone who has donated in the past thank you for your support and enabling us to host this great server for everyone else.
A final few words of me will literally be, thank you for being an awesome community – You are all lovely people of which I had the pleasure of hosting hours of entertainment for, it’s a sad to see you all part ways because many of you created friendships and bonds that I hate the break, but it’s for the benefit of community as a whole.
Who knows, maybe we’ll be back for a second time around? ;)
P.S. For the meantime check back on this website to find out current information about the Management team and to see what we are currently working on. (hopefully I can post weekly).
And please keep coming to the teamspeak I would love to see hear some familiar voices in there when I have time :)
Thanks for your support and see you soon:
